All non-exempt research that poses more than minimal risk to participants (i.e. greater risk than one is exposed to in daily life) and/or includes procedures that are not approvable under the OHRP expedited review categories must be reviewed by the Full IRB. Full IRB meetings convene on a monthly basis, and require the presence of a majority of IRB members, including at least one non-scientist member, to achieve a quorum.
Only internally consistent applications which clearly describe the aspects of the research related to the criteria for IRB approval as outlined by federal regulations will be scheduled for review by the Full IRB. Incomplete, inconsistent, poorly designed, or unclear applications will result in significant delays in the IRB review of your research. Applications that do not meet these guidelines may be returned without review, and may result in additional delays in starting your project.
Researchers are encouraged to submit applications requiring IRB review to the Cayuse Human Ethics product based on the following review schedule:
- Initial applications should be submitted at least 8-12 weeks prior to the date of the meeting at which you intend for your study to be reviewed.
- Renewal applications should be submitted at least 8 weeks before the expiration date of the IRB approval for your study in order to ensure continuity of research.
- Modification requests should be submitted at least 4-6 weeks before the date of the meeting at which you intend for this modification to be reviewed.
Full Board IRB Meetings
The IRB is scheduled to meet on the second Tuesday of each month from 3-5PM on Zoom. If quorum cannot be met or there are no agenda items, meetings may be cancelled or rescheduled at the discretion of the IRB Chair or IRB Office.
